Accessibility at Magen

Magen is built to be usable by everyone — including students using screen readers, keyboard-only navigation, or other assistive technology. This page describes the standards we target, where we are against them, and how to report a barrier.

What we target

WCAG 2.2 Level AA for the magenreport.org public site and the lawyer dashboard. Filed complaint PDFs are produced to be screen-reader accessible.

What works

  • Keyboard-only navigation throughout the site and form.
  • Screen-reader labels, landmarks, and headings on every page.
  • Color contrast that clears AA on every route.
  • Resizing text up to 200% without loss of content.
  • Visible focus indicators on all interactive elements.
  • Status messages (saves, errors, async results) announced to assistive technology.

Known limitations

  • A full manual screen-reader and keyboard pass is still in progress.
  • When a lawyer edits a complaint outside Magen and re-uploads it, the resulting PDF may not be tagged for screen readers.

Report a barrier

If anything on magenreport.org is unusable for you with assistive technology, please tell us. We respond within 3 business days.

Email [email protected] with the subject line “Accessibility barrier:” and include:

  • The page URL where you ran into the problem.
  • Your browser and version (e.g. Safari 17, Chrome 120).
  • The assistive technology you were using (e.g. VoiceOver, NVDA, TalkBack, keyboard-only).
  • What you tried to do and what happened instead.

If email isn't accessible to you, the same address accepts phone callbacks — call (332) 278-1100 and ask for the accessibility contact.
